National Pubwatch has for a long time recommended that Pubwatch schemes should measure their success, not least because it can demonstrate that they play a significant role in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. We believe that the on-going evaluation being undertaken by Leeds Metropolitan University will provide really good evidence of the effectiveness of the Pubwatch model. However the impact of local schemes can be variable so its very important that if you are putting a lot of effort into your work that you take the time to carefully evaluate what you have achieved. This should not be daunting and to help you we are able to provide a free toolkit which can get you started and can be found on our FAQ section of the NPW website. Our thanks to Alistair Turnham from Make Associates for his assistance in producing the Pubwatch Evaluation Toolkit.
