NHS Covid-19 App

The NHS Covid 19 App is due to be released on 24th September 2020.  Every person who downloads the app will be helping in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19). The app will help the NHS understand where and how quickly the virus is spreading, so it can respond quickly and effectively. The app helps the NHS track the virus, not individuals.

As of Friday 18th September 2020 it will be mandatory that Track & Trace details are recorded for visitors to licensed premises (1 person per group). The App will assist the trade in achieving this legal requirement. Simply register your premises with the App and you will be provided with a QR code, unique to your premises, for customers who have the App to scan. This will then log that the person is in your premises and it uses GPS systems, so when they leave this will also be recorded.

If you have a large premises, for example split over 2 floors, you may wish to consider having a separate QR code for each floor, so that if someone does unfortunately fall ill and they were on the first floor, customers on the ground floor may not be required to follow the Track & Trace guidelines.

The attached PDFs guide you through the App and how to obtain a unique QR code to display in your premises.

Please be aware that not all customers will want to use the NHS Covid App or have access to a smartphone; in which case you will need a back-up process to record Track & Trace details e.g a paper system. Please also be mindful of GDPR issues regarding paper systems, customers should not be able to read other peoples details, the best system may be to have paper slips which are filled out by the customer using sanitised pens,  and deposited in a secured container behind the bar. These can then be stored securely for 21 days, then destroyed.
