9/3/22: Twenty-eight members of Reading Pubwatch, representing eighteen licensed premises, attended the See, Check and Notify (SCaN) training seminar presented by the Counter Terrorism Security Advisor from Thames Valley Police.
See, Check and Notify aims to help businesses and organisations maximise safety and security using their existing resources to identify suspicious activities and behaviours.
The course highlights that your team are your biggest advantage in preventing and tackling a range of threats, including criminal activity, unlawful protest and terrorism.
The course was interactive and featured video scenarios, performed by actors, which allowed delegates to assess incidents that staff working in licensed premises might encounter.
Over the past three years Reading has experienced two terrorist related attacks, with evidence to suggest that there was significant reconnaissance prior to the events.
Reading Borough Council kindly provided the venue and the BID provided the certificates of attendance awarded to each delegate. Attendance counted towards for the Reading Best Bar None scheme.
