WINDERMERE/BOWNESS PUBWATCH

02.09.2021

Windermere/Bowness Pub watch today had a guest speaker from the Home Office Immigration team.

Wendy Ingham Pubwatch co-ordinator for the South Lakes invited Jonathan Allen from the Immigration Compliance and Enforcement team to attend the meeting to discuss members concerns regarding the employment of foreign nationals in the hospitality trade.

The lack of staff and the complex criteria for applying to the home office to employ staff from other countries is having a major impact on staffing in the busy tourist areas.

Jonathan answered  questions and gave out information sheets to the members present.

Wendy also reports that Windermere/Bowness members have seen a marked increase in abusive customers in the months since re-opening after Covid; these are predominantly people who are on holiday in the area.
