6/8/19: Saw the launch of York Pubwatch, with the first committee meeting being held this morning at Lendall Cellars, where a Chairman and Co Ordinator were appointed.
After months of planning and support from National Pubwatch and various partners, the watch launched with 78 members.
Each member are signed up to Apex radio system and discussions are ongoing into the use of body worn cameras.
The pubwatch members are working closely with York BID who are looking at ways to sponsor the York Pubwatch.
NPW regional representative Peter Jackson said ” I am delighted that York now has a Pubwatch with a strong membershop base. It has been a long process and several meetings with York Licensses, North Yorkshire Police Licensing team and other organisations. All agencies and other bodies agreed to support pubwatch and come on board at the very start. I am anticipating a very good future for York. Discussionns are already taking place to set up rural schemes within the York Postal district with a networking agreement between each one to share data.”
